Sierra Leone is actively reviewing its national mental health and psychosocial support strategy.
In late 2025, the Ministry of Social Welfare brought together government officials, civil society, and international partners to review the existing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) strategy.
Consensus from the meeting emphasized that while the current strategy provides a foundation, it needs updating to meet emerging mental health needs across the country.
Stakeholders linked the nation’s mental health to economic vitality, stressing that better mental health services can support broader development goals.
