Mental health advocates are turning to technology to reach young people across Africa, with a major digital campaign gaining traction in Nigeria and beyond.
A Nigerian health tech platform, SereniMind, launched the Africa Wellness Voices Initiative, a digital advocacy campaign using social media, storytelling, and tech platforms to raise awareness and connect youth with mental health resources.
Within its first week, the initiative reportedly reached over 10 million people online, aiming to connect up to 100 million Africans to support services and reduce stigma.
The founder highlighted that young people face economic stress, social pressures, and rising emotional challenges, and digital tools can help bridge gaps in awareness and early support in a region where traditional mental healthcare is often scarce.
