Authorities report that mental health disorders are contributing to aggressive behaviour and placing additional pressures on healthcare systems already dealing with other burdens like HIV/AIDS and gender-based violence. To tackle the crisis, South Africa has updated its Mental Health Policy Framework (2023–2030), aiming for comprehensive and integrated mental health care by 2030, with targets to have mental health professionals present in most community health centres by the end of the decade. �
