In Chad, mental health remains a largely invisible crisis despite growing needs. Recent data shows that young people aged 19–30 make up nearly 39% of mental health cases recorded in regions like Ouaddaï, Wadi-Fira, and Sila. Over a recent survey period, more than 1,000 people received some level of mental health support, but services remain extremely limited and under-resourced. Displaced persons and people living with disabilities are particularly affected, with estimates showing that 9–15% in these groups experience mental health distress. Experts say the situation underscores the urgent need for better prevention, more trained professionals, and increased public awareness about mental health issues.
