The government of Tunisia is preparing to introduce new mental-health support programs aimed at young people, as concerns grow about psychological stress linked to unemployment, social pressure, and economic hardship.
Officials say the initiative will focus on school-based counselling services, digital support platforms, and community mental-health outreach programs. The plan is designed to help university students and young adults access professional help earlier, before conditions worsen.
Mental-health experts warn that stigma remains a major barrier preventing young Tunisians from seeking treatment, even as depression and anxiety rates continue to rise in the country.
If implemented successfully, the program could become one of the most comprehensive youth-focused mental-health strategies in North Africa.
