In Morocco, King Mohammed VI recently launched a major solidarity project aimed at supporting the psychosocial rehabilitation of people living with mental and psychological disorders. The initiative, announced in October 2025, marks a significant step toward expanding specialized care beyond traditional medical settings by constructing a regional facility near Casablanca dedicated to rehabilitation and community support.
This project comes amid rising concerns over mental health needs in the country. According to recent reports, Moroccan youth are experiencing a sharp rise in addiction and psychological distress, partly linked to depression, anxiety, and stress, highlighting gaps in treatment and public awareness.
Social rights advocates have also called for the government to accelerate reforms, expand facilities, and improve emergency psychiatric care, stressing the importance of mental health in national development.
