In the Central African Republic, grassroots initiatives are emerging to address mental health challenges in communities affected by years of political instability.
Local NGOs have begun organizing community therapy groups where residents gather to share experiences, discuss trauma, and support one another.
These programs are gaining attention as an affordable alternative in a country where professional psychiatric services are scarce.
A community facilitator in Bangui explained that the sessions allow participants to feel less isolated in their struggles.
“When people talk about their experiences together, they begin to realize they are not alone,” she said.
While these initiatives cannot replace formal mental health services, advocates believe they represent an important step toward rebuilding emotional resilience in fragile communities
